Guidelines working group of the German-Greek Youth Office met in Thessaloniki

International youth work is one of the central tasks of the German Federal Youth Council. In various committees, the DBJR advocates good framework conditions for international youth exchange so that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to gain experience in encounters with their peers from other countries and so that youth policy can be thought of in cross-border terms.

In addition to the implementation of youth encounters and specialist programmes, the commitment in the field of international youth policy also includes close cooperation with the specialist and funding bodies of international youth work. This includes the German-Greek Youth Office / Ελληνογερμανικό Ίδρυμα Νεολαίας (DGJW). The DBJR is represented there both on the supervisory board and in the working group on funding guidelines. The latter draws up recommendations for the further development of the framework conditions for the funding of German-Greek exchange programmes, which the Supervisory Board then decides on.

From 14 to 16 October 2025, the working group met for its regular meeting in Thessaloniki, the Greek headquarters of the DGJW. For two days, intensive discussions were held on the further development of the central set of rules that form the basis for the promotion of German-Greek exchange programmes.

An exchange with the Greek youth organisation ESYN also took place on the fringes of the meeting, with a particular focus on the national framework conditions for youth work.
