Bundesjugendring at the ARD media policy evening: Young perspectives in dialogue with public broadcasters

Die stellvertretende Vorsitzende des DBJR Lena Bloemacher spricht beim medienpolitischen Abend der ARD
On 2 December, the Deputy Chair of the DBJR, Lena Bloemacher, was invited by ARD Secretary General Dr Susanne Pfab to the ARD Media Policy Evening. She contributed her young perspective to the lively discussions, which centred on the current challenges and opportunities facing the German media system.

In addition to ARD Chairman Florian Hager, who organised the event, numerous other representatives of the media association were also present: Yvette Gerner, Director General of Radio Bremen, and ARD Programme Director Christine Strobl. The evening provided a good opportunity to discuss the recently enacted State Treaty Reform, which brings fundamental changes to the German media landscape and on which the DBJR had positioned itself at the 2024 plenary assembly.

Lena Bloemacher used the event not only to present the concerns and perspectives of young people to ARD, but also to engage in intensive dialogue with members of the Bundestag, particularly from the Committee on Culture and the Media. This exchange was particularly valuable in shedding light on young people's perspectives on developments in media policy and making it clear that young people should be involved in media policy and want to help shape it.
