Daniela Broda at the Federal President's Citizens' Festival

Die DBJR Vorsitzende Daniela Broda mit Vertreter*innen der Jugendverbände vor Schloss Bellevue
The Chairwoman of the Federal Youth Ring was among the 4,000 or so volunteers from all over Germany who were invited by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender to the citizens' festival in the park of Bellevue Palace on 12 September.

The festival honours voluntary work in civil society and highlights how diverse and indispensable volunteering is in Germany.

As Chair of the DBJR, Daniela Broda also took part on behalf of the many young people: "Millions get involved in youth organisations and youth rings every day. Their commitment makes a significant contribution to living democracy in everyday life, assuming social responsibility and representing the interests of younger generations."

Young involvement creates spaces for co-determination, strengthens solidarity and counteracts polarisation. Especially in times of social tensions, it is a central building block of our democracy. The Citizens' Festival emphasises this contribution and shows that the commitment of young people deserves recognition and support.
