Debriefing of the UN youth delegates in the Bundestag
DNK
The debriefing began with a welcome address by Carl-Philipp Sassenrath, Member of the German Bundestag. The youth delegates then reported on their time in office, with a particular focus on their two trips to New York for the 80th UN General Assembly and the CsocD64. They also gave interactive insights into other elements of the programme, such as the tour of Germany and the work shadowing at the Federal Foreign Office and the BMBFSFJ. The presence and passion of the UN youth delegates was particularly striking, captivating the audience of around 40.
The report was then introduced by representatives of the organisations supporting the UN Youth Delegate Programme to the General Assembly and the two supporting ministries. Özge Erdoğan (DNK) and Felix Deist (DGVN) thanked Ms Abdi for her patronage and the opportunity to host the debriefing in the Bundestag, as well as Mr Sassenrath for his welcoming address. Marthe Hanik (Federal Foreign Office) and Annika Nulle (BMBFSFJ), representing the ministries, emphasised that the switch to the senior/junior model was already proving successful and contributing to greater continuity in the programme. At the same time, they recognised the good work of the two youth delegates. The relevance of the office was also emphasised, particularly in the current global situation, also with regard to the risk of the United Nations losing relevance. This was followed by a lively discussion among the participants.
