Digital focus series "Engaged under pressure" starts

The Bundesjugendring is launching the digital focus series "ENGAGIERT UNTER DRUCK - herausfordernde Zeiten für Ehrenamt und Engagement" in the second half of 2026. The series will kick off with a digital event on 10 June 2026 from 10:00 to 13:00. The focus will be on current challenges for volunteering and the exchange between science and practice.

With the focus series, the Bundesjugendring addresses key issues relating to engagement and volunteering. These are categorised scientifically, discussed together and combined with practical perspectives. The aim is to facilitate a continuous dialogue between research and practice and to network experts in the field. The Juleica serves as a concrete example and perspective framework within the series.

The series is aimed at stakeholders from science and research as well as experts and those responsible in youth organisations and youth rings. It is also aimed at all those active in the field of Juleica and voluntary work. The DBJR organises digital events lasting around three hours at regular intervals.

At the kick-off event on 10 June 2026, the DBJR and Prof. Dr Gunda Voigts will discuss current developments and challenges for engagement in today's world. The discussion will also include the results of the practical research project "The future of engagement in youth organisations after coronavirus" and findings from the publication "Voluntary engagement of young people in youth organisations". The kick-off event will also provide an opportunity to identify topics and challenges that will be explored in greater depth at the other events in the focus series.

The DBJR will provide information about the other planned events in due course.

Registration for the kick-off event is possible via this form.

Note: Recommendations for registration procedures within a small group were developed based on the resolution of the 97th plenary assembly of the DBJR "Stronger together - involving volunteers and full-time staff equally". The events in the series are aimed specifically at full-time staff and volunteers and deal thematically with challenges and also obstacles to involvement. The DBJR is therefore asking for feedback on the basis of the recommendations developed (interest in the event, reasons for being unable to attend, follow-up information and voluntary/full-time activities) via the following link:
