Induction week for youth delegates for sustainable development

The annual induction week created the basis for a structured and independent exercise of office and strengthens the cooperation between the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), which has supported and promoted the youth delegate programme since 2002.

The familiarisation week is designed as an opportunity for the new delegate duo to get to know each other, familiarise themselves with the delegates' work and look ahead to the year ahead. At the Bundesjugendring, the focus was on organisational introductions, scheduling and annual planning as well as insights into youth association structures. Discussions with the office and social media team as well as the clarification of administrative processes supported the clarification of roles. A feedback session with the outgoing youth delegate Audrey MacLean rounded off the handover of office.

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety provided key information on sustainability policy, the 2030 Agenda and multilateral processes such as the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). The delegates received a political categorisation of current developments and were introduced to relevant working contexts; a final and handover meeting also took place here.

In addition, the first meetings with stakeholders from civil society on this year's focus SDGs (SDG 6, 7, 9 & 11) have already taken place.
