Exchange with National Youth Council of Ukraine NYCU

During a digital exchange on 20 May 2016, the German Federal Youth Council and the Ukrainian National Youth Council NYCU discussed current youth policy issues and international youth work activities.

The NYCU reported on key projects for the coming months. In addition to mental health, the focus is on strengthening regional youth council structures, supporting young people in rural and underrepresented areas and cooperating with European partners. The work of the Ukrainian Youth Foundation was also discussed: the state foundation supports youth initiatives and provides funding information, advice and a small amount of financial resources.

The German Federal Youth Council congratulates Daria Burii from NYCU on her election to the board of the European Youth Forum (YFJ). The YFJ General Assembly elected the new Board for the 2026-2028 term of office on 9 May 2026 in Tromsø.

The German Federal Youth Council reaffirms its solidarity with the Ukrainian Youth Council and looks forward to further cooperation.

About the National Youth Council of Ukraine NYCU

The National Youth Council of Ukraine (NYCU) was founded in Kyiv in 2015. By the time Russia fully invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the NYCU had 155 member organisations. These organisations represent young people at local, regional and national level.

The DBJR has been a close partner of NYCU since it was founded. The intensive cooperation is characterised by the fact that the DBJR has supported the NYCU in its development with structural knowledge and joint formats as well as project applications and has accompanied it on its way to full membership in the European Youth Forum.
