Youth Travel Conference: Travelling Safely

The Bundesjugendring, together with aej, Naturfreundejugend Deutschlands and Deutscher Wanderjugend, invites you to the symposium ‘Gute Reise: Staying safe whilst out and about with youth organisations!’. The focus is on safe, participatory and well-organised children’s and youth camps.

On 23 September 2026, those involved in children’s and youth work will gather at bUm in Berlin. The programme combines academic insights, policy discussions and practical workshops.

The workshops will address key issues relating to youth organisation trips: safety protocols for holiday camps, crisis management, participatory decision-making, the application of academic findings in practice, and dealing with far-right dynamics at holiday camps. The conference thus provides a space for exchange, reflection and concrete courses of action.

For youth organisations and networks, holiday camps are important venues for community, participation and democratic education. The symposium supports full-time and voluntary staff in organising these programmes in a safe, inclusive and responsible manner.

Registration is open until 9 September 2026. You can also use the form to indicate your participation in the ‘Youth Travel’ workshop on 24 September 2026.
