Die Vorsitzenden des DBJR Daniela Broda und Wendelin Haag mit der Bundesministerin für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen Verena Hubertz
On 1 October, the chairpersons of the Federal Youth Council met with Verena Hubertz, Federal Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB). The discussion centred on the question of how youth participation can be systematically strengthened within the ministry's area of responsibility.

As in other ministries, the Federal Youth Council offered its expertise and support in the implementation of participation processes and referred to the quality standards for child and youth participation. Minister Hubertz emphasised that in future, young people should be more involved in advisory boards and hearings as "experts in their own situation".

The topic of young people's housing was also addressed. The aim of the BMWSB is to give trainees more visibility. The Federal Youth Council suggested seeking dialogue with trainee representatives when designing corresponding programmes.

The discussion provided important starting points for taking greater account of youth participation and the perspectives of young people in the area of housing and urban development in future.
