New voting software for the U18 children and youth election

The U18 voting software is the central digital infrastructure and the technical basis for all U18 elections. After a few months of development, the new U18 voting software was released on 30 January 2026 at app.u18.org. The new U18 election software provides all young volunteers involved in the 2026 U18 elections and all coordinators who organise U18 elections at federal, state or municipal level with a modern and modular application. The new development of the software was made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) as part of the Federal Child and Youth Plan (KJP).

The election software strengthens the sustainable expansion of the U18 network.

The U18 election software helps to permanently register polling stations, integrate them in a targeted manner and analyse results in a structured manner. With the publication, U18 coordinators at state and municipal level can make early preparations for their own U18 elections and integrate their respective U18 networks in a targeted manner. Support, maintenance and hosting are guaranteed until at least the end of 2029 so that the U18 elections can also take place at the next federal and European elections.

A central element is the establishment of a permanently maintained database of interested, active polling stations: Polling stations can now be registered on a long-term basis and thus informed specifically about upcoming U18 elections. Other functions of the voting software include

  • Diverse display of election results with export functions
  • Display of all active polling stations on an interactive map
  • User-friendly management of polling stations and U18 elections
  • Powerful protection of polling stations and election results

The Bundesjugendring would like to thank farbcode GmbH for the committed and trusting cooperation.
