Publication ‘Gute Reise’ published in collaboration with the Youth Travel Centre

The publication *Gute Reise – Empirical Findings and Perspectives on Children’s and Young People’s Holiday Camps*, edited by Wolfgang Ilg and Judith Dubiski, has been published by Beltz Juventa Verlag. The Fachstelle Jugendreisen contributed to several chapters.

This publication presents, for the first time, the findings of the nationwide panel study on leisure activities, which has been conducted since 2019, and provides an academic analysis of these findings. Supplementary academic analyses examine, amongst other things, structural data on children’s and young people’s leisure activities, as well as the situation regarding group accommodation. Further articles provide an introduction to the fundamentals of children’s and young people’s travel and the academic research into it, present innovative travel formats and offer insights into the interpretation of the findings.

From a practical perspective, the article ‘Between Experience and Insight: Evaluation as a Contribution to Quality in Youth Organisation Leisure Activities’ by Shari Kohlmeyer, Lars Reisner and Gabriele Jahn is particularly relevant. It explores why it is worthwhile for organisers of children’s and young people’s trips to evaluate their programmes and what contribution evaluation can make to quality development.

The publication is available via Open Access.

The Fachstelle Jugendreisen and transfer e.V. have jointly developed a fact sheet on the publication, which summarises key findings for the practice of children’s and youth travel.
