Review: funk meets youth organisations - AI, digital spaces, young voices

Fünf Menschen in einem Seminarraum vor einem Bildschirm

On 4 and 5 December 2025, the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR) and funk jointly organised the event "funk meets youth associations - AI, digital spaces, young voices". Representatives from youth organisations and rings met in Mainz and digitally to discuss current issues relating to artificial intelligence and social media.

The first day of the event focused on an input from Torben Dzillak (D64 - Centre for Digital Progress) on the socio-political impact of AI. The opportunities, risks and requirements for a youth-friendly and democratic design of digital technologies were discussed.

The second day was dedicated to social media: funk provided input focussing on vertical formats and how complex content can be prepared for social media in a way that is understandable and appropriate for the target group. The contributions offered concrete assistance and inspiration for the communication work of youth organisations.
