DBJR

On 8 October, the Federal Youth Council discussed current developments and strategies in the field of sustainability policy with the federal executive boards and representatives of its member organisations. The aim of the top-level meeting was to discuss and coordinate lobbying activities in this area more closely.

In view of the new federal government, new leadership responsibilities in the federal ministries and changes in some areas of responsibility, it is particularly important to pool resources and capacities in a targeted manner. With this in mind, the Federal Youth Council hosted this format for the first time at its Berlin office in order to strengthen activities in the area of sustainability in dialogue with member organisations.

Following an introduction of those present, the Federal Youth Council and the member organisations provided insights into their ongoing work in the area of sustainability policy. Working groups then discussed processes and developments at international, national and association level.

Priorities for a harmonised sustainability policy within the Bundesjugendring were defined in a joint needs analysis. Continuous dialogue is crucial in order to bundle and effectively represent political strategies and positions.

The Bundesjugendring emphasises the importance of the active participation of youth associations in these processes. Despite complex political conditions, it is clear that together the youth organisations remain strong and capable of acting.
