Trio Statement of the National Youth Councils of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia

Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union will end at the end of 2020 and will be followed by Portugal’s and Slovenia’s Council Presidency. The corresponding National Youth Councils take stock and look ahead.

Being into the current Trio-Presidency for about 5 months, the National Youth Councils of Germany (DBJR), Portugal (CNJ) and Slovenia (MSS) release a joint statement in which they take stock and offer a view into the future. They want to recognize and express their gratitude for the outstanding collaboration in the European Steering Group, involving the European Youth Forum, the European Commission and all three national youth ministries. They recognise that this current cycle is built on the principles of mutual respect and equality between partners.

The document aims to provide a vision, through the lenses of the Trio National Youth Councils, on the principles and practices that should guide cooperation between young people, youth organizations and decision-makers in the framework of the Trio Presidencies.
