Wendelin Haag re-elected to the EBD Executive Board

Wendelin Haag, Chair of the Bundesjugendring, has once again been elected to the Executive Committee of the European Movement Germany (EBD) e.V. At the general meeting held on 22 June 2026 in Berlin, the delegates re-elected him for a further two years. He will continue to represent the Youth Division on the committee.

The EBD is the largest network for European policy in Germany. As a non-partisan alliance of more than 220 organisations from civil society and the business sector, it brings together diverse perspectives to ensure a strong German contribution to European integration. The General Assembly is the EBD’s highest decision-making body; this year’s agenda included, amongst other things, the adoption of the EBD’s policy and priorities for 2026/27, as well as the scheduled elections to the Executive Board.

On the EBD Executive Board, Haag continues to advocate for greater youth participation in Europe. From the Bundesjugendring’s perspective, this includes a Europe-wide voting age of 16, co-management structures within the EU and a strengthened youth department within the Council of Europe. At the same time, solidarity with youth organisations and national youth councils remains important – particularly those in Europe and beyond that are facing political pressure and are campaigning for freedom, democracy and the rule of law.
