Digital briefing & exchange format with Agora Energiewende on the energy industry and the heating transition

On 19 November, the Coordination Office for Youth Participation in Climate Issues, together with Agora Energiewende, held a digital briefing and exchange format on the energy industry and the building/heat transition. The focus was on two presentations by Corinna Fischer (Agora Energiewende) and a subsequent discussion with representatives of the participating youth associations and organisations.

The external briefing is a further building block in the ongoing process of drafting the statement on the German government's climate protection programme. In her inputs, Corinna Fischer outlined key study results and measures recommended by Agora in the relevant sectors, with a particular focus on the social design of climate protection measures. The participants then discussed current challenges, fields of action and potential.

One thing became clear: The expansion of renewable energies and the heating transition in the building sector remain key fields of action in which the climate protection programme must present ambitious measures. The briefing supported the youth representatives in further expanding their expertise in the sectors and preparing the joint statement.
