Our focus on national youth policy

Democracy

A functioning democracy negotiates and unites different interests in a society. Young people experience and learn about this in youth organisations as workshops of democracy. That is why we are committed to a strong democracy that defends itself against increasing anti-democratic movements.

Volunteering and commitment

Voluntary work in youth organisations is indispensable for providing activities for children and young people and for their personal development. Volunteers lead groups, organise holiday camps, seminars and educational programmes and take on responsibility on executive boards.

Specialist and Coordination Centre for Youth Participation

The Expert and Coordination Centre bundles and networks various youth participation formats at federal level and supports their implementation. It acts as a central interface between the participation processes and offers civil society expertise to federal ministries.

Youth Travel Centre

The Youth Travel Centre offers advice, exchange and networking on all issues relating to youth association travel. Youth association travel includes educational programmes, camps, excursions, camps and weekend trips organised by youth associations and youth rings.

Social diversity

The Bundesjugendring promotes anti-discriminatory, inclusive and queer-sensitive youth organisation work. It supports relevant legislative processes from the perspective of young people. The Bundesjugendring firmly rejects inhumane migration policies and cooperation with right-wing extremists.

Health policy

The Bundesjugendring is concerned that the number of young people whose mental health is impaired has been increasing at an alarming rate for years. It is committed to ensuring that the causes of this are not individualised, but considered in terms of society as a whole.

Child and youth welfare

Sustainable development

The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) must be consistently implemented in national and international policy. This can only succeed if the voice of young people is taken seriously and they are involved in the implementation processes.

Media and digital policy

Political youth education

Political youth education is an integral part of the work of youth organisations and strengthens our democratic society because it encourages young people to co-determination, solidary self-responsibility and participatory involvement.

Social policy

Responsible social policy must contribute to reducing social insecurity, improving people's living conditions and ensuring social and political participation for all. The Bundesjugendring is committed to ensuring that young people are involved in all relevant social policy decision-making processes and that their perspectives are taken into account.
