In the view of the Bundesjugendring, good youth policy is committed to ensuring that young people have a say and that their interests are heard in political decisions. It is based on the values of democracy, diversity, social justice and sustainability. The aim is to recognise youth as an independent phase of life and to enable young people to genuinely participate - in society, in politics and in shaping their future. The Bundesjugendring represents the positions of its member organisations vis-à-vis politicians, administration and the public, puts youth policy issues on the agenda and calls for better framework conditions for young people. It sees youth policy not only as policy for young people, but above all as policy with them. National youth policy therefore means creating spaces, ensuring participation and strengthening young voices - on an equal footing and with a long-term perspective.
