German Federal Youth Council supports NYCU networking meeting in Ukraine

On 16-18.12.2022, a networking meeting of member organizations of the National Youth Council of Ukraine took place in Western Ukraine in cooperation with the German Federal Youth Council and with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

The German Federal Youth Council and the National Youth Council of Ukraine (NYCU) have had a close partnership for many years. Therefore, the German Federal Youth Council supported the NYCU in organizing a forum for networking of member organizations in December 2022 to accompany the NYCU General Assembly.

Due to the volatile security situation with massive rocket attacks and nationwide power outages, the original event concept had to be reconsidered and adapted to the situation. It was decided to hold a networking meeting on a reduced scale and at a safe location in western Ukraine to discuss how to maintain association activities despite the many problems.

The networking meeting, which took place from December 16 to 18, 2022, was able to include 35 representatives of NYCU member organizations in Tatariv in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of western Ukraine, as the location had good transport links and sufficient shelter in the event of an air alert.

The participants took the opportunity to exchange views on current challenges and activities of NYCU and member organizations under war conditions, to address mental health issues of volunteers and to discuss perspectives of cooperation. On behalf of the German Federal Youth Council, Chairperson Daniela Broda, Vice Chairperson Marius Schlageter and Jochen Rummenhöller, Head of the International and European Youth Policy Department, digitally participated in the networking meeting.

Should the security situation allow it, NYCU intends to invite to a general assembly in the coming weeks.
